Gary Broad has been the Planning Director since 1991 and the Town Manager since 2001.
Gary graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut with a B.A. in economics and government.
He has a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from U.C. Berkeley and a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, Hayward.
Gary has worked in local government at both the city and county levels since 1984.
The Town of Ross operates with a minimum staffing level. Town personnel take a lead role in small tasks as well as critical responsibilities and truly have the opportunity to be chief cook and bottle washer.
The Town Manager serves as a resource to the Town Council in its decision-making role and also handles many of the day-to-day responsibilities related to the Town Administration office. The Town Manager is responsible for financial matters, such as budget preparation, negotiations, day-to-day fiscal oversight and insurance management.
The Town Manager is active in the management of the many consultants providing services to the Town, including accountants, arborists, computer specialists and engineers. He serves as an information clearinghouse, providing information to Council and staff members and ensures that there is coordination between all members of the Town’s team.
