Encroachment Permit Requirements

An encroachment permit is required for any activity in the public right-of-way. (The right-of-way is the portion between your property line and the center line of the road.) Please contact Public Works at (415) 453-1453, option 3 to obtain a permit.
To avoid flooding, please maintain your drains. It is the property owners’ responsibility to maintain, repair and/or replace pipes and culverts under driveways, open ditches, pipes, culverts on/or across their property, creeks and creek banks and related structures including bulkheads, drainage culverts, riprap and retaining walls.

Garbage Cans and Pickup Information

Garbage Cans - Garbage cans should be removed promptly after the waste has been collected (Ross Code Section 6.12.140).
Garbage Pickup - To report a problem with garbage or recycling pickup, please contact Marin Sanitary Service at (415) 456-2601.

Street Lights are serviced by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). To report an outage, please contact Public Works at (415) 453-1453, option 3, with the address of the nearest property and the pole number, which can be found on the pole and ends with the letter K.

Watering New Street Trees

Newly planted street trees require regular watering until they take hold (usually 3 years). Your assistance in providing sufficient water to the trees is greatly appreciated!
