James T. Reis, Chief of Police
|
Jim Reis graduated from the Santa Rosa Police Academy in July 1977, and joined the San Anselmo Police Department. In late 1977, Jim transferred to the Ross Police Department as a full-time Police Officer. In 1980 Jim was promoted to Corporal and in 1982, he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant where he remained for many years as the night shift supervisor. In 1998 Jim was promoted to Administrative Sergeant in charge of the Police Division. He has a wide training base which includes: Field Training Officer, Drug Recognition Expert, Radar Instructor, Combat Firearms Instructor, Death Investigator, Critical Incident Commander, SWAT, Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter. Jim lived in Ross for twenty four years where he raised his two children, James and Samantha, who graduated from Ross School. He has been serving the Town as Chief of Police since his appointment in August 2008.

Steve Nelson, Police Sergeant

Steve Nelson started his 22 year law enforcement career with the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department in 1986 where he was assigned to work the main Jail Facility. He transferred to the San Anselmo Police Department in 1989 and was assigned to patrol and 5 years as the Motorcycle Traffic Enforcement Officer. In 2002, he joined the Ross Police Department. Steve's current duties include Patrol, Range Master, Firearms Instructor, and Field Training Officer. He was promoted to Police Sergeant in July 2009. He looks forward to finishing his law enforcement career in Ross.

Gianfranco Campa,
Police Sergeant

Gianfranco Campa began his career in law enforcement in 2002 with the Marin County Sheriff's Office and transferred to the Ross Police Department in 2003. He is currently a Crises Intervention Team member, a Field Training Officer, a Terrorism Liaison Officer and one of the Training Managers for the Police Department. He is currently working on completing his bachelor's degree in Homeland Security, and in between school, work and family commitments, he coaches and plays soccer.

Paul Stromoski, Police Officer

Paul Stromoski began his law enforcement career with the Ross Police Department in 2003 after serving three years as a California State Parks Peace Officer (Ranger). He is a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of the University of California at Davis. Currently, Paul is the department's field evidence technician and evidence/property room manager. He also serves as a Field Training Officer (FTO).

Kevin McKendry, Police Officer

Kevin McKendry started working for the Town of Ross in 2005. His law enforcement career began in 1998 with the United States Coast Guard and continued with the San Francisco Police Department, where he gained valuable experience. He brings this training and experience to better serve the citizens of Ross.

Danny Moy, Police Officer

Danny Moy began with the Ross Police Department in 2005. As the newly appointed Firearms Instructor, he hopes to improve the effectiveness of the department and make Ross an integral part of the Police community in Marin County. He looks forward to many more years serving the Ross community and striving to make it a better and safer place everyday.

Kenneth Nicholas, Jr., Police Officer

Ken Nicholas began his law enforcement career in 1989 at the Fairfield Police Department as a cadet and a community service officer. In 1997, he began working as a dispatcher and reserve officer for the Fairfax Police Department and transferred to the Ross Police Department in 1999. In 2001, he returned to the Fairfax Police Department and served there from until March of 2009. Ken rejoined the Ross Police Department in April 2009 and currently manages the radar equipment for use in speed enforcement. He appreciates the opportunity to come back and work for the Town of Ross and its residents.

Robert "Officer Bob" Besgrove,
School Resource Officer

Bob Besgrove began working for the Town of Ross in 1994. As the School Resource Officer, his primary duty is to patrol in and around the Ross School to ensure a safe and crime free environment for the children, and to serve as liaison between the Ross Police Department and the Ross School Administration. His other duties include Parking, Traffic Enforcement and General Patrol.
