The Town is committed to keeping our community safe, especially during an emergency. For our community to be fully prepared, we need residents and business owners to be ready too. Plan to be self-sufficient for 72-96 hours.

Potential Hazards

The following natural and human-caused hazards potentially threaten:

  • Energy shortage or power outage
  • Earthquake
  • Flooding
  • Severe weather such as heavy rain, severe heat
  • Wildland fire

The Town has adopted a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan that identifies and evaluates hazard risks to which the Town is vulnerable and identifies goals, strategies, and actions to minimize the potential for loss of life, injury and property damage from natural disasters. The plan identifies flooding, earthquakes, wildfires, landslides, dam inundation and drought as natural hazards that the Town may experience.
