Public Works Director
Mel Jarjoura
Mel graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a minor degree in Civil Engineering. He worked abroad as Chief Land Surveyor, Project Manager and Chief Executive for more than 25 years. He moved to San Anselmo in 1990 and joined the Town of Ross in 1999 as building inspector and plan checker. In August 2001, he became the Director of Public Works.
Public Works Superintendent
Robert Maccario has been working for the Town of Ross since 1992. He is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair and upgrading of the town’s infrastructure, streets, parks, right-of-ways, drainage systems, and watercourses. Robert is also the MCSTOPPP (Marin County Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program) representative for the Town of Ross.
Public Works Secretary
Simone Jamotte started working for the Town of Ross in 1994. She assists the Public Works Director and the Building Official in the overall activities of the Department.

Construction hours. Monday to Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Not at any time on Saturday and Sunday or the following holidays: New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Veterans’ Day; Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The following exceptions apply: (1) work done solely in the interior of a building or structure, the performance of which does not create any noise which is audible from the exterior of the building or structure; or (2) work actually physically performed solely by the owner of the property, on Saturday between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and not at any time on Sundays or the holidays listed above.
Street lights are serviced by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E.) To report an outage, please call Public Works (453-1453, option 6) with the address of the nearest property and the pole number, which can be found on the pole and ends with the letter K.
Avoid flooding-maintain your drains. It is the property owners’ responsibility to maintain, repair and/or replace pipes and culverts under driveways, open ditches, pipes, culverts on/or across their property, creeks and creek banks and related structures including bulkheads, drainage culverts, riprap and retaining walls.
Garbage cans should be removed promptly after the waste has been collected (Ross Code Section 6.12.140.)
Watering newly planted street trees is greatly appreciated until they take hold (usually 3 years.)
